Connecticut's Dom Perno hit two free throws with 32 seconds to go, and then stole the ball from All-America Bill Bradley to clinch a stunning 52-50 upset over Princeton in last night's NCAA Eastern regional game at Raleigh, N.C.

Bradley finished the night with 22 points, enough to pace the evening's scorers but well below his 34-point average during the regular season.

In other NCAA tourney action, Ohio University used its height advantage to shock the University of Kentucky Wildcats, 35-69. The game ended the illustrious college career of Kentucky All-American Charles "Cotton" Nash and aborted coach Adolph Rupp's drive for an unprecedented fifth NCAA tournament crown.

Powerful Duke, paced by 43 points from Kentuckian Jeff Mullins, put down Villanova, 87-73, to join UConn in the Eastern regional finals, Kansas State disposed of Teas Western, 64-60, in a Midwest regional contest.

The regional winners advance to the national semifinals to be held at Kansas City, Me, next weekend.
