Weak Quaker Squad Challenges Swimmers

The Crimson swimming team gets some more pleasant exercise this afternoon as they face a Penn team that is almost unbelievably weak. The meet starts at 5 p.m. in the IAB.

The Quakers have dropped six of seven meets to date, losing to such powerhouses as West Chester and LaSalle. They also lost 67-26 to a Cornell team that Harvard demolished 60-35. And since the meet with the Big Red, Penn has lost the services of ace diver Steve Fisher, who beat Yale's best earlier in the year.

Freestyle sprinter Lou Kozloff is probably Penn's best bet to break up the Crimson's domination. After him, the Quakers get a bit thin; freestyler Jay Eberhardt has set a new Penn record in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:55.6 clocking, a scant 50 seconds off Dave Abramson's Harvard record. Backstroker Bruce Banm has also turned in a record, but his 2:16.2 time is easily within the reach of Earl Showerman and Al Lincoln.
