Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
It's a bit of a thin year for the Springfield wrestling team--they only have two returning New England champions. The Gymnasts, who have won the New England title 13 consecutive years, should still be good enough to outscore Harvard tonight.
But the match isn't going to be any walkover. A large Crimson sophomore contingent has been improving all season long, and coach Bob Pickett feels "they're going to bust loose one of these days."
The big problem for Harvard is that some of the top Crimson wrestlers will face Springfield's best men. 137-pounder Howie Durfee, who's lost only one match all year, faces Springfield's captain Jay Saunders.
Two other capable Harvard sophomores, 147-pounder Brian Conley and 130-pounder Brian Smith, will have their hands full tonight. They both have to face defending New England champs--John Cerra opposes Conley, while George Fox takes on Smith.
The Crimson squad has squeaked through its last two matches with important League wins--16-14 over Columbia and 17-14 over Princeton. The team will really have to "bust loose" tonight to make it three in a row.
