In this, a community of verbal men, things have come to a pretty pass when it becomes impossible to call any Harvard number for half an hour because the University switchboard is tied up. Yet this has happened with annoying regularity this week.

We hesitate to recommend so simple a solution as more operators; surely the authorities must have considered that. There must be another problem, and as journalists, striving always to be responsible, we would have tried to seek it out. But we couldn't--the lines were busy.
