8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
A grand jury has indicted former Gov. Foster Furcolo and four members of his Governor's Council for bribe-fixing.
Furcolo, a Democrat who served two terms as Governor between 1956 and 1960, and the four councillors are charged with arranging a bribe to secure the reappointment of Anthony Dinatale as state commissioner of public works.
In addition to the conspiracy charge, the four councillors are charged with one count each of requesting and accepting a bribe. All but one of them are still members of the Governor's Council, which has the power of approval over most Gubernatorial appointments.
