Eleven Harvard Faculty members are among the 269 winners of Guggenheim Fellowships whose names were announced last night. The grants are made to support specific research projects suggested by the recipients to the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, which makes the awards.

The 11 Faculty members include Herschel C. Baker, professor of English; Bernhard Blume, Kuno Franche Professor of German Art and Culture; Jerome H. Buckley, professor of English; Kurt Gottfried, assistant professor of English; and Walter Grossman, lecturer in History and Literature.

Others are Billy Jim Layton, assistant professor of Music, Eugene G. Rochow, professor of Chemistry; Edward F. Sekler, associate professor of Architecture; James B. Thompson, Jr., professor of Mineralogy; George Wald, professor of Biology and Robert Lee Wolff '36, professor of History.
