Vic Niederhoffer won the number one match, defeating Mike Annison 15-9, 15-14, 15-10, but racketman Lenny Bernheimer handed Bill Morris a surprising 3-0 loss, 16-14, 15-14, 15-12. In the number three slot, Paul Sullivan took five games to beat Bud Elliott 16-17, 17-18, 15-5, 15-7, 16-13.

The Ephmen's number four player also proved a better opponent than expected, but Lou Williams beat him 15-9, 15-10, 12-15, 15-10. In the fifth spot, Doug Walter outclassed Bruce Birgbauer 3-0; and captain Roger Wiegand got by Frank Thayer 15-14, 12-15, 15-12, 14-18, 15-9.

Both Terry Robinson and John Thorndike won their matches 3-0. In the number nine contest, Allen Terrell beat Warren King 18-15, 15-18, 15-9, 15-9.
