The Harvard soccer team was named New England champion by the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League at its annual meeting Sunday in the Varsity Club. Coach J. Bruce Munro received the James M. Sampson Trophy from its donor, the Harvard soccer manager of 1934.
The varsity has won the trophy only twice before in the league's 29-year history, in 1938 and 1955.
