8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
A Harvard Law School student won the Republican nomination for State Representative from Brighton yesterday after a dogged, well-organized campaign. As votes were tallied last night, Charles W. Long '62 took an early and decisive lead.
Long conducted a personal campaign, ringing door bells and shaking hands with the people in his ward. He drew his active supporters primarily from present and past members of the Harvard Young Republicans.
Long received 421 votes compared to 242 and 29 for the other Republican contenders. Although there are nearly 2900 registered Republicans in the ward, Long supporters termed the turnout "impressive under the circumstances" and predicted victory against the Democrats Jan. 7.
