Defenseman Tim Horton deflected a shot off a Boston defender's leg with 55 seconds remaining to climax a Toronto comeback and give the Maple Leafs a 4-3 National Hockey League victory over the Boston Bruins last night. The victory enabled Toronto to remain ahead of fourth place Detroit in the league standings.
Horton's goal, his fourth of the season, followed Billy Harris's tying score at 14:36 of the third period. The Maple Leafs fell behind 3-0 in the opening period but came back with tallies by George Armstrong and Allen Stanley in the middle frame.
Boston's early scorers were Orland Kurtenback, Guy Gendron and Andy Hebenton. Two of the goals came with the Leafs short-handed.
Harris brought Toronto back into the game when he batted in Dave Keen's rebound from just outside the crease. Hebenton had hit the left goal post for Boston less than a minute before. Horton's winning score ricocheted off Kurtenbech's leg.
