Unbeaten Eli J.V.'s Favored

The Crimson J.V.'s face what is undeniably the best Ivy League junior varsity in today's 2 p.m. contest with Yale at New Haven.

The Bulldogs are undefeated and untied in five outings and have yet to win a league game by fewer than two touchdowns. By contrast, the Crimson has posted a 4-3 overall record, and has won only one of four league contests, a shaky 6-0 victory over Princeton.

The Eils' success can be attributed partly to the interest of varsity coach John Pont. Unlike most varsity coaches, he has drilled the J.V.'s as a unit, and has kept the team personnel relatively since the season began.

By practicing and playing together, the Bulldogs have become an awesome offensive machine, one that turned out 31 points against Dartmouth and 26 more against Princeton.

McCarthy Shines

Another reason for the plethora of points is Eli quarterback Ed McCarthy. McCarthy was the starting signal caller in last year's varsity game against the crimson, and his passing and ball-handling this year have many observers wondering why Pont isn't saving him for The Game tomorrow.

A Yale victory seems assured unless the Crimson can jell tomorrow into a football team. So far this year, Norm Shepard's squad has performed well in spots but has lacked the cohesiveness necessary to play four quarters of good football.
