Goalie Godfrey Wood and forward Tim Taylor, star performers of last year's ECAC champion Crimson, ice hockey team, survived the first drastic outs from the U.S. Olympic hockey team today.
Taylor, the captain of last year's Harvard squad, and Wood were among 25 players left on the Olympic team after 12 skaters were dropped from coach Saddie Heremiah's squad today. Both were graduated from Harvard last June.
The coach said that his final team would be announced Dec. 2. He added that he expects to carry a total of 18 players after the last squad cuts are made.
Also retained on the team was Billy Hogan, star of the Boston College team which lost to Harvard in the final of The United States is the defending champion in the Olympic tournament, and will have several veterans of its 1960 team on the 1964 squad.
