Exiled KING UMBERTO II of Italy (right) and his host, former Republican Governor JOHN A. VOLPE, scan the Widener card catalogue for books about the monarch's former realm.

The king, who ruled Italy for 46 days in 1946, called Harvard the "most wonderful place" he had visited during his present American tour, He and his party of Italian noblemen were honored at a reception in the Faculty Club yesterday afternoon.

The King cancelled a visit to MIT and postponed his departure from Boston in order to return to the Widener stacks tomorrow.
