Peter C. Goldmark, Jr. '62, of Leverett House and New Canaan, Conn, and Stephen L. Pohl '62, of Kirkland House and Michigan City, Ind., will receive the Ames Memorial Awards at Class Day exercises in the Yard on June 13.

The Ames Awards honor the memory of Richard Glover Ames '34 and Henry R. Ames '33, who gave their lives attempting to save their father from the seas of Newfoundland during a transatlantic sailing race in 1936. They are given for outstanding qualities of leadership, self-reliance, and character.

Goldmark is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was formerly president of Tocsin. He holds an honorary National Merit Scholarship, and has received two distinguished undergraduate awards--the Wendell Scholarship and the Richard Perkins Parker Scholarship.

A Government major, Goldmark spent last summer teaching elementary school in Tanganyika.

Pohl is active in House athletics and the Hasty Pudding, and is a former member of the Student Council. He majors in the Bio-Chemical Sciences.
