James A. Sharaf '59 has been awarded this year's Dana Reed Prize for the meet outstanding undergraduate writing to appear in a College publication.
The prize was given for two editorials which appeared in the CRIMSON last May criticizing President Pusey's decision not to allow folksinger Peter Seeger to sing in Sanders Theatre.
Honorable mention was awarded to Luann Evans '61 for a short story, "Old Revenge," which appeared in the "Advocate" last spring.
The Judges for this year's contest were Harrison Salisbury of the New York "Times," Joseph J. Thorndike, Jr. '34 of the American Heritage Publishing Company, and John Updike '54, novelist and short-story writer. The prize includes a $100 award.
