He has been a professor at Harvard since 1950, and taught at New York University. on early Irish grammar and an edition of an Irish text will keep him busy in Cambridge following his retirement.

Hull, who has written widely on Irish and Welsh linguistics, literature and folklore, speaks Irish and has visited Ireland many times. Among his publications are several letters of (1988), A Collection of Welsh Riddles (with Arch Taylor, 1943), and The Exile of the Sons of (1949).
