Track Varsity Downs Princeton; Bailey, Ohiri Star in 84-65 Win

A 200-ft. hammer throw by Ted Bailey was the feature of the varsity track team's 84-65 victory over Princeton Saturday in Tigertown. Bailey's toss, a University record, led a Crimson sweep of the event; the varsity also went one-two-three in the discus, broad jump, hop, step, and jump, and shot put.

Chris Ohiri took first in the broad Jump at 22 ft., 7 1/2 in., and was a surprise victor in the 100 in 9.9. In the hop, step, and jump Ohiri leaped 46 ft., 9 in., but had to share first with Hoble Armstrong, who was making his competitive debut in the event.

The Crimson's Hank Hatch turned in his best varsity performance, taking the high hurdles in 15.0 and the lows in 24.4 Sarge Nichols heaved the discus 150 ft., 2 1/2 in, for one blue ribbon, and threw the shot 53 ft., 4 1/2 in, for another. Captain Mark Mullin won the mile in a meet record 4:14.5.

The freshmen lost to Princeton 74 2/3 to 74 1/3. Yardling Aggrey Awori won the 220 in 21.4, the high hurdles in 14.5, and the lows in 24.4, but he was disqualified in the 100. The Crimson's Gage McAfee won the 440 in a rapid 50.2, and John Bakkenson upped his freshman discuss record three feet with a 163 ft., 6 in, toss.

Charlie Styron (52.5), Awori (50.6), Lee Parker (50.0), and McAfee (49.4) took first in the mile relay in 3:22.5 a very fast freshman time.
