CRIMSON NETMEN TO BATTLE TO RETAIN SHUT-OUT RECORD

"I think we have a stronger team than they do," Coach Jack Barnaby said last night comparing his highly favored varsity tennis team to that of Brown University. Today's tennis match with the Bruins should verify Barnaby's evaluation.

The varsity has shut out its last three opponents and is riding high on a string of 27 straight match victories, and should have little trouble with a weak Brown squad.

Barnaby will use the same team that overwhelmed Columbia 9 to 6 Monday. Captain Paul Sullivan will all the number one spot with Vie Niederhoffer and Frank Ripley in the number two and number three singles positions. Gary Adelman, Keith Martin, and Mark Woodbury round out the top Crimson six.

Ripley and Sullivan will also see action against Brown as Barnaby's top doubles team. Woodbury and Doug Walter along with Adelman and John Vinton will occupy the second and third doubles posts.

Brown will face the varsity without the benefit of a spring training trip under its belt, but returning lettermen Peyton Howard and Nathan Chace could give Sullivan and Niederhoffer tough matches. Howard was a finalist in the Easterns.

But this is only the second year that the Bruins have been in the Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis League and their overall chances against the Crimson are slim.
