Dunster Asks HCUA To Study Rent Costs

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Dunster House Committee has instructed its Council representative to ask the HCUA to conduct a study of rising costs in the University. The Committee wants the Council to see if "greater efficiency" rather than larger student term bills couldn't be used to offset the expanding University budget, especially in non-academic expenses.

The action was taken last night in response to strong complaints about the recently announced ten per cent hike in room rents.

In the opinion of some members, the University seems to take increases in tuition more seriously than higher room and board rates. "It makes no difference to the student where the extra money is going," a representative observd, "the effect to us is the same."

The Committee voiced hope that other Houses would join it in backing a HCUA study.
