The Leverett House basketball team, winners of the class "A" league inter-House competition, staved off a last minute surge yesterday to defeat Yale's Silliman College, 60-57, at the I.A.B.

After leading at halftime 36-30, Leverett held onto a comfortable lead until three minutes remained in the game. Two quick baskets by Silliman cut the Leverett margin to one point.

The Bunnies managed to freeze the ball for 30 seconds, but then Silliman took possession and immediately called a timeout. Both teams missed scoring opportunities at the foul line. But as time ran out, Jim Beery iced the game for Leverett with two free throws.

Mike Hardesty led Leverett with 21 points and Dave Hudepohl picked up 14. The game was marked by fierce rebounding by both teams.
