'Poon Song Hit Written by Yalie

Having pulled the wool over the eyes of their readers at the University, the 'Poonies have managed to keep their secret now for two months: the co-writer of three of the recent Lampoon rock 'n' roll hit songs was a Yale student.

Leonard M. Chazen, Yale '63, collaborated with Christopher B. Cerf '63 on "John Foster Dulles," 'Fallout Filly", and "I'm Losing Irv to the Ready Reserve." The latter two songs have been acclaimed by disk jockeys in Boston and New York as perhaps the best of the "Lampoon's songs."

"Fallout Filly" was so popular that after its release on a long-playing "Vanitus" record entitled "The Harvard Lampoon Tabernacle Choir Sings at Leningrad Stadium", it was again released as a 45 r.p.m. recording.

The December 1961 issue of the Lampoon, which reached its University subscribers on February 5, 1962 through the mail, carries the lyrics of the songs and the names of the composers. Nowhere does the Lampoon mention that Chazen is not a member of the 'Poon staff, much less not a Harvard student, much less a Yalie.
