A strong Harvard squash team, after whalloping Rochester 5-0, lost to New York City 2-3, in the second round of the National Team Championshisp at Buffalo Saturday.
The extremely close second round began with the successful attack of Vic Niederhoffer and Lou Williams against their New York opponents, 3-1, 3-2. Doug Walter and Roger Wiegand then lost their matches by identical scores of 3-1 With the series tied, Paul Sullivan dropped the fifth match 3-2.
Game scores included Niederhoffer's 15-11, 15-11, 16-18, 15-9; Williams' 6-15, 18-16, 15-13, 8-15, 15-9; Sullivan's 15-12, 10-15, 13-15, 15-10 15-10. Walter and Wiegand lost their matches 15-10, 15-18, 18-16 15-12, and by 15-11, 11-15, 15-10, and 15-9.
All other teams in the tournament came from big city areas or from large regions of the country. Navy, the only other college team, sank in the first round.
