HCUA Vote Favors Radcliffe Interhouse On Date Night Basis

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard Council for Undergraduate Affairs voted unanimously last night to ask University and Radcliffe officials to place 'Cliffies on interhouse on "date-nights." Presently the 'Cliffies are allowed in the Houses on the weekend "date nights" only as paying guests.

At the meeting, it was reported that only the Dunster House Committee had failed to support the move. According to several students, the Committee's vote does not represent the opinion of Dunster students; therefore a referendum will be held sometime this week to determine student feeling in Dunster.

The other houses all voted to support the move, six of them unanimously.

The HCUA also voted a present a PBH plan to the House Committees during the next week. PBH has spear-headed a drive to allow 'Cliffies to inter-house in the private dining rooms during the week for official meetings of undergraduate organizations.

Jon W. Clifton '63, president of PBH, said that the sympathized with the Committees and Masters who objected to the presence of girls in the main dining rooms during the week. He pointed out, however, that his interest was only in the private dining rooms, which could be used effectively for meetings of undergraduate organizations during dinner without disturbing the House atmosphere.
