Powerful Yale JVs Seek 5th Victory

Harvard's Junior Varsity football team will attempt to salvage a bit of glory from what has been a rather unhappy season when it meets the reserve forces of Yale at 3 p.m. today on the JV Field.

Plagued by injuries and scheduling difficulties, coach Norm Shepard's JV squad has compiled a 1-2-1 record this fall. Yale, always tough on the JV level, has lost only one of five games.

Sophomore George Spote, who was a highly successful freshman quarterback will be calling the signals for Harvard. He will have the running abilities of halfback Stan Yastrasmski at his disposal and they are considerable.

The halfback situation is uncertain, and Shepard won't be sure until game time who is available. Dave Clark and Dave Bamford, both sophomores, appear to be the likely starters, with Mike Patrick slated for trouble-shooting duties.

The line is more definite, and perhaps a little stronger. Jeff Lambert and Curt Lemkan will start at end, and both of these boys are capable targets for any Spoto passes.

Jack Mesanachwander, who has had some varsity experience, and converted and Mike Foley are the first line tackles and their collective 440 pounds should be useful in stopping. Yale's offensive attacks on the exterior line.

Not much is known about the Yalies except that there will be a lot of them, and that they will be anxious for a JV victory as the varsity picture is girm.
