Hundreds of students are expected to claim allegiance to Fair Harvard and indicate disgust for everything Yale at a pre-game rally on the steps of Widener tonight.
The rally program will include selected words of wisdom from coach John Yovicsin an appearance by the team, the inspiring music of Harvard's irrepressible band, choral arrangements from a local singing group, and the exhilarating sounds of a rock 'n' roll band.
Hoping to entice study-weary students to join in the fun, the band will parade through the House area at 7 p.m., ending up at Widener a half hour later.
Charles "Buzz" Gagnebin '63, varsity football manager and organizer of tonight's festivities, said yesterday that this will be "one of the best rallies in history." Gagnebin noted that "spirit is high of The Game."
Rallies have lacked conviction in recent years, and it is thought that switching the scene to Widener, hallowed scene of many great student gatherings in the past, will spark enthusiasm.
Despite the cold weather that is predicted for tonight, Gagnebin hopes the numerous entertainment events on the program will encourage a large turn-out. The appearance of a squad of Radcliffe cheerleaders may also attract the curious.
