Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
A good Tufts goalie and a box defense designed around center forward Chris Ohiri held the Crimson soccer team scoreless for the entire first half of play yesterday, but coach Bruce Munro's squad came alive in the last two periods to beat the Jumbos, 4 to 0. In spite of the stacked defense, Ohiri tallied three goals to open a new assault on the league record books.
For the first 50 minutes of play. Tufts goalie Jim Kaufman stopped everything the Crimson had to offer while the Jumbo defense concentrated on keeping at least one man between Ohiri and the ball.
But the defensive work of coach Bruce Munro's eleven was equally impressive with halfback Tony Davies and fullback Lou Williams keeping the ball in Tufts territory most of the time. The Crimson secondary performed so well that the Jumbos managed only four real threats all afternoon.
Ohiri finaly broke the deadlock on a head shot at 8:15 of the third period. Ten minutes later, he booted another one home on a penalty kick and Tufts was out of the contest.
Jumbos Tired
Munro summed up the rest of the afternoon with the comment "they got tired before we did." Showing the effects of the heat and the constant pressure from the Crimson front line, the Jumbo defense began to wilt just as Harvard's passing began to click.
Early in the fourth period, Steve Sewall (Ohiri's roommate) scored on a cross-over pass from Mike Kramer at left outside. Less than a minute later, a Kramer shot from the side was blocked by an amazing Kaufman save that brought a round of applause from the crowd.
The hard pressed Jumbo goalie made five more saves before Ohiri drilled another one past him from 30 yards out to end the scoring.
Munro substituted freely throughout the contest, showing a depth of talent that should come in handy when the inevitable injuries start to mount. At inside left, Munro has Sewall and junior John Thorndike who played well yesterday until he was injured midway through the third period.
The inside right position will be shared by Al Chang and George Draper. Both veterans saw extensive action yesterday. The squad is also strong in the halfback and fullback positions, though Munro will have trouble if he has to replace starters Lou Williams and Wait Winslow.
The one real question mark remains the goalie position, where junior Wally Whitney replaces John Adams from last year. Whitney easily handled the few shots that got past Williams and Winslow in the Tufts game.
