George Cabot Lodge '50, shook hands in Harvard Square yesterday afternoon, greeting students and passers-by on the sparcely populated sidewalk in front of the Coop.
Smiling broadly, Lodge strolled up and down, saying to everyone "My name is George Lodge." Several young ladies with him carried wicker baskets full of bottle tops, buttons, bumper stickers, and pamphlets.
Since many of the Coop patrons are too young to vote, Lodge styled his gambit accordingly. "My name is George Lodge," he said. "Say, how would you like to work with me in this election... Sure I can use your help. Several Harvard students are already on my staff." (And here he named three or four undergraduates.) "Come down to my headquarters at 100 Boylston St. and see what you can do."
Many students seemed to leave the candidate smiling.
