Crimson Yachtsmen To Defend Trophies On Charles Today

The Ivy champion Crimson sailors move on to the defense of two major trophies this weekend in back to back regattas on the Charles.

This afternoon, the sailing team will face a serious challenge from M.I.T. as the Crimson attempts to repeat last spring's victory in the Boston Dinghy Championship. Carter Ford, Mike Horn and probably Dave Stookey will skipper the three Crimson entries against six other local colleges.

The Crimson is slightly favored over M.I.T., but the Engineers, sailing in their own Tech Dinghies, are certain to test the Crimson front rank strength and considerable depth.

Harvard will have to fight off M.I.T. and an always powerful Coast Guard crew tomorrow to retain the Walter C. Wood trophy. The Crimson came from behind last year to capture the event, but the victory was made possible only when M.I.T. and Coast Guard canceled each other out in a two-way dogfight.

Ford and Horn, two of last year's winning skippers, will handle three of the Crimson boats. Stookey will substitute in the third dinghy for Mike Lehmann, who is out of town this weekend.
