Although reports indicate James Meredith will be enrolled at the University of Mississippi today, the Harvard-Radcliffe Liberal Union is going ahead with its plans to ask students to wear armbands in a show of support for the Federal government's actions in Mississippi
"Meredith might be enrolled tomorrow, but it is only the beginning Meredith has the right not only to register at one Miss but to get an education and it how appears that the University is not going to provide protection for him." Hendrik Hertzberg '65, HRLU president, said last night.
In a leaflet distributed last night to all College rooms and Radcliffe, the HRLU asked University students to join a nation-wide demonstration to show that popular sentiment supported the enrollment of Meredith over the resistance of Gov. Ross R. Barnett. The demonstration began at Texas Christian University last week.
