World Affairs Council Will Take Part In Democracy March

The Harvard-Radcliffe International Relations Council will join a student "March for International Democracy" to the Massachusetts State House on Washington's Birthday, Feb. 22.

Representatives of International Relations Clubs throughout the New England region will participate in the march, at the conclusion of which a statement of principles will be presented to Governor Volpe.

"We students march as American revolutionaries marched almost 200 years ago," the statement will declare.

"We march with the knowledge that the leadership in the world political-ideological revolution has been seized by the forces of communism. We march in the belief that America must once again assume the leadership of this revolution or perish."

According to a release put out by the club, the march will demonstrate student support for the principles which the United States has supported "throughout its existence," including the defeat of communism, the importance of the individual, the progress of underdeveloped areas, and the establishment of democratic governments in those countries where they do not exist.
