University to Sponsor Annual Debate Contest

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Most of the usual inhabitants of the University will be breathing sighs of relief this Thursday at the end of exams. But for over 250 visitors from colleges and universities all over the United States and Canada, excitement will just be beginning.

The occasion is the Harvard University Debate Council's ninth annual invitational debate tournament, in which 106 two-member teams from 87 schools will compete on the topic, "Resolved: That labor organizations should be placed under the jurisdiction of anti-trust legislation."

The winning team will receive the John Quincy Adams award, to be kept for a year until it is awarded to the winner of the next tournament. The Harvard team will not be permitted to compete beyond the preliminary rounds.
