The Crimson tennis team trounced Pennaylvania players on the Quaker courts yesterday for a score of 8 1/2 to 1/2, winning six singles and two doubles, and splitting a third double. Harvard was a solid favorite to win despite play on unusual courts--surfaced with tar and fine gravel.
The Summary:
Singles--Robert Bowditch won 6-0, 6-1; Paul Sullivan won 6-3, 6-1; Douglas Walter won 6-3, 6-1; Peter Smith won 6-4, 7-5; Gary Adelman won 6-4, 6-2; and Keith Martin won 12-10, 6-4.
Doubles--Bowditch and Sullivan won 6-2, 6-1; Smith and Mark Woodbury split after 6-6 in the third set; and John Wyide and Walter won 6-3, 6-2.
The team also took four unofficial singles and two unofficial doubles. Christopher Clark, David Moore, Kalman Pollan, and John Roosevelt won the singles. Clark--Moore and Adelman--Pollen teamed to carry the unofficial doubles.
The team will face Yale in the last regularly scheduled play Wednesday on the Soldiers Field courts.
