Grants involving a dozen universities were announced today by the Ford Foundation to improve the preparation of school and college teachers. From grants totalling $3,742,000, Harvard received $50,000 for experimental loans to doctoral engineering students planning teaching careers. The loans can be granted for three years at a maximum rate of $10,000 per student.
