Yacht Club Will Race In Annapolis Tourney

Eight members of the Yacht Club will begin to tune up a 44-ft. yawl on Chesapeake Bay today in preparation for the McMillan Cup races at Annapolis this weekend.

The Crimson, reportedly the top contender among the five crews from the New England Interscholastic Sailing Association, will also face five boats from the Mid-Atlantic conference. Strongest opposition will probably come from perennial rivals Navy and MIT.

Although the varsity has placed second in the series twice since 1948, it has not held the coveted silver trophy itself since sophomore John Kennedy won it in June, 1938.

In the three 13-mile races, Commodore Carter Ford will skipper, with John Marshall as mate in charge of foredeck operations. The rest of the crew includes Peter Farrow, James and Rick Burns, William Gallagher, Mike Deland, and Mike Horne.
