Cambridge Asks Volpe To Meet on Highway

The Cambridge City Council yesterday used a resolution asking for a meeting with Governor Volpe and other officials to discuss the Inner Belt Highway.

Though the route of the new artery has been announced, Councilors fear that it will pass through the eastern part of Cambridge, thus causing "the loss of hundreds of homes" and dividing the city into two sections. According to the resolution, the value of property near the archway would fall, and new "blighted might result.

The resolution asked that the Governor, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, and the Chief Engineer, as well as officials from Cambridge and , meet to talk over the situation.
