Radcliffe Library Weighs Changes

'Cliffies will have an opportunity to prove that they want Radcliffe Library to remain open on Saturday nights.

Mrs. Bunting has recommended that the library be open until 11 p.m. on Saturday nights for a trial period to begin as soon as possible and continue through January. If enough girls use the facilities, the hours will probably be permanently extended.

Ruth K. Porritt, the librarian, has estimated the additional expense at $13,000 a year--approximately $400 a night--to be spent for heat, light, and extra personnel. Mrs. Bunting has indicated that this cost would not be prohibitive.

Mrs. Bunting is also examining the possibility of allowing men above the first floor after 5 p.m. Miss Porritt is not in favor of the idea because an additional attendant would be needed on the second floor so "men could not get upstairs to molest the girls."
