Cliffes Request Open Library for Saturday Night Studying

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Agitation has begun for the opening of Radcliffe Library on Saturday night. At present, and always in the past, the library closes at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, although 11 p.m. on all other nights.

Girls would welcome this service either on dateless Saturday, when the dorms are always too noisy, or for study-dates, according to Helen S. Garvy '64, chief organizer of the new reform.

Librarian Ruth K. Porritt has not veto the suggestion, although she has pointed out the difficulties in paying for heat, light, and an additional librarian. The matter is now being considered by President Bunting.

An average of 100 students study in library on weekly nights, with exam time the only period when the 200 capacity filled.
