Arthur L. Kopit '59, author of the play Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Momma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Felling So Sad, flies by jet from Paris to the United States today and will arrive in Cambridge by Thursday, in time to see the reopening of his play.
Currently on a Shaw Travelling Fellowship, Kopit will cut short a Morroccan visit to see his play with a Feb. 4 audience that will include prospective agents, producers, and the theatre critic of Time.
Michael B. Ritchie '60, director of the play, said yesterday that "judging from the number of telegrams and offers of advance payments on options, there is a strong possibility that Kopit's play will open on Broadway next fall."
As an undergraduate, Kopit, now 22, lived in Dunster House, studied playwriting with Robert H. Chapman, associate professor of English, and had four plays produced at the University.
