Hockey Team Wins At West Point, 3-1, Stops Army Streak

The Crimson hockey team snapped Army's nine-game winning streak Saturday night with a close 3-1 victory at West Point's Smith Rink.

Dave Morse won the game for the Crimson with a goal in the third period. Morse's tally came at 16:37 and broke a 1-1 tie, Jim Dwinell, co-scoring leader with Morse last year, clinched the Crimson's third victory with a goal in the final minute of play.

Army, in an attempt to tie the game when time was running out, withdrew its goalie and skated six men up front; Dwinell took possession of the puck and shot it into the empty cage.

Winning Streak Broken

The Cadets had defeated Brown, Yale, and Princeton in three games prior to last weekend. Last year's 16-6 West Point sextet won its last six games in a row to start the victory skein that the Crimson halted.

At Watson Rink Saturday afternoon, Ike Ikauniks' two goals and two assists gave the freshmen a 5-2 victory over Exeter. The win was the fifth straight for coach Nat Harris' sextet.

Ikauniks scored his first goal on a 20-foot shot from the center and tallied in the second period on a breakaway after which he faked out Exeter goalie Joe Aldrioh and flipped the puck into the upper right hand corner of the cage.

Other Yardling scorers were Bill Lamarche, John Clark, and Bill Fryer.
