The varsity fencing team brought its season record to 3-0 last night at M.I.T., defeating the Engineers by a score of 20 to 7. The foil team was especially successful, as captain Larry Johnson and Lon Wheeler both won three bouts in an 8-1 victory.
In sabre, Jon Piel took all three of his matches as the Crimson piled up a 6-3 margin, and Bill Bennett and Alan Gardner each won three straight to account for the varsity's 6-3 edge in epee.
The varsity's first Ivy meet will be Jan. 7, against Cornell. Although the Crimson has gone three years without an Ivy fencing triumph, the team should break through this winter.
