This year the Combined Charities Drive Committee has demonstrated extraordinary farsightedness. In recommending a special Combined Charities Scholarship, intended for a student whose "financial situation has changed to the point that his returning to Harvard would be impossible without help," they perhaps had nothing more in mind than an individual loss of scholarship. But in doing so they anticipated the plight of all of us.
Another tuition increase, another need for scholarship aid; the fortunate seniors should give generously in the name of all those who remain behind. . . Onward and upward: both tuition and charity.
