A Leverett House student took a 55-minute elevator ride last night when a power failure stopped his elevator just above the second floor.
The House superintendent and a mechanic, lacking a key to the elevator room above the shaft, were unable to free him until the arrival of an Otis elevator repairman with the proper key.
The repairman said that the recent malfunctions of Towers' elevators have been caused by student mishandling of the controls.
