Distinguished Scholar To Speak at Winthrop

Edgar Johnson, chairman of the English department of CCNY and a noted literary biographer, will speak on "Satire and the Censor" at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon in the Winthrop House Junior Common Room. The lecture will be open to the public.

Best known for his widely-praised biography of Charles Dickens, Johnson has also written two novels, a history of biography, and edited a comprehensive anthology of satire. He is currently working on a biography of Sir Walter Scott.
