Freshman may now take an almost unlimited number of Physical Training cuts, provided they make them up regularly, according to a new set of regulations announced yesterday by Nathaniel A. Parker, Director of Physical Training.
As of today, a Freshman may use as many cuts as he wants, as long as the current number of his unmade-up cuts never exceeds six. Yardlings can make up cuts, Parker said, by going extra days in any week and requesting make-up credit from their instructors.
Under the grading system this year, a student may take as many cuts as he wants and still receive an "A." This will be possible if he never has more than six cuts at any one time and makes them all up by the end of the term. Previously, five cuts a year removed all chance for an "A," and more than six per term, even if they were made up, consigned the student to a "D."
The purpose of the new rules, Parker said, is to give Freshmen the opportunity to go to P.T. at convenient times. His department will soon release a notice to Freshmen which will explain these new regulations.
Ordinarily, students will be allowed to make up absences in an assigned sport during any one of its regularly scheduled periods. However the instructors have the right to refuse Freshmen the opportunity to make up cuts if facilities become overcrowded.
