How Cambridge’s Political Power Brokers Shape the 2025 Election
Two Crimson teams will be playing in Cambridge today. The freshman football team will undergo its first real test in a game with Brown; and the rugby club will open its season against the Charles River Barbarians.
Both contests will be played on Soldiers Field starting at 2 p.m.
In its opener last week the Yardling eleven overcame a weak 25-man Tufts squad without much trouble, 22 to 0. Brown reportedly will field its best freshman team in the last several years, and chances are that Crimson coach Henry Lamar will not be able to play his entire squad of almost 50, as he did last Saturday.
The C.R. Barbarians, a make-shift fifteen composed of local doctors and students with "considerable rugby experience," could be a difficult first hurdle for the Crimson. Returning starters from last year's squad who will be playing today are Jack Downing, Jim Keating, and John Van-Schalkwyk. Langley Kavaliku is out with a twisted knee.
