Headed by the unbeaten first doubles pair of Ned Weld and Bob Bowditch, a four-man contingent from the varsity tennis team has entered the New England Intercollegiate championship tournament at M.I.T. today, tomorrow and Sunday. The Crimson is considered the second-best team in the tournament, behind defending champion Yale.

Weld and Bowditch, seeded first in the doubles competition, are the only varsity players among the top eight singles seeds. Weld is fourth, behind Yale's defending champion Don Dell, Wesleyan's Alan Roberts, and Amherst's Tom Richardson. Bowditch is ranked seventh, and Fred Vinton is placed among the second eight. Bill Wood, the varsity's fourth entrant, is unseeded.

Bowditch, who played beautifully against Yale on Wednesday, could be the big surprise of the tournament if he can keep up his fine play. Vinton, who reached the semi-finals in the singles last year, will not play doubles, and Crimson coach Jack Barnaby has not yet decided who will pair with Wood.
