College Debate Team Will Attempt to Reach England Again Today

"That this house thanks God for the Atlantic" will be the topic of a transatlantic debate today between the Harvard Debate Council and the Cambridge University Debate Union. The contest will be broadcast live from Burr B at 5 p.m.

Originally planned for Feb. 26, the discussion dissolved at that time into what James D. Lorenz '60, president of the Debate Council, termed a "real flasco" when a transatlantic cable failure and sunspot interference cut off all communication with Cambridge. Russian fishing trawlers were suspected of cutting the cable.

Crimson debaters will argue for the negative and plan to use the February flasco as a key point in their defense, according to Lorenz. Speakers from the University will be: Kenneth C. Aldrich '60, Peter L. Brooks 2B, David L. Bynum '59, Charles E. Lister '60, Robert W. Scrivner 1L, and William Zorbel 1L.

Marc E. Leland '59, and Edward C. Pinkus '59 will represent the Debate Council tonight in a debate with the Boston Socialist Club on the topic, "Resolved: That socialism is the only cure for our ills."
