After a pre-game show by the Harvard Band, the Boston Red Sox won the Fen-way Park opener yesterday, beating the Washington Senators, 7 to 3. Dick Gernert produced a home run for the winners in the game, which was marred by several errors.

New York's Moose Skowron paced the Yankees with a grand slam home run as they crushed Baltimore 13 to 3. Chicago's White Sox also continued undefeated by shutting out Kansas City 2-0.

In the National League Milwaukee nosed out the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 3 in ten innings before 42,081 fans. The Braves picked up their third straight triumph on consecutive singles by Hank Aaron, Wes Covington, and Johnny O'Brien. Den McMahon was the winning pitcher. Chicago ruined San Francisco's opener 5 to 2, as Ernie Banks blasted two home runs.
