The Freshman hockey team went down to its first Ivy League defeat of the season Saturday in New Haven, as the Yale sextet pulled out a 4-3 overtime victory. Although the Yardlings finished their campaign with a fine 18-3 overall record, the Bulldogs edged them in the unofficial Ivy standings with a 3-0 slate.
Against four straight League wins, the Freshman put up a good fight against the Bulldogs, but the combination of Eli goalie Pete Terry and the weakness of their own defense was too much to overcome.
Terry stopped 41 Crimson shots, and the Yardling defense leaked at inopportune times, the most unfortunate being with three minutes gone in the overtime, when the wininng Yale goal resulted from a loose-puck situation in front of the Crimson cage.
