In a match that ran almost exactly according to form, the varsity wrestling team lost to Yale, 17 to 9, in New Haven Saturday afternoon.

Captain Joe Noble, Bob Foster and John Watkins posted the only Crimson wins, as Yale swept the other five matches. Noble, wrestling at 147--one weight lower than his normal class--easily defeated Bob Schoeneman, 4-0. Watkins, also dropping down a class to 130, took a 7-3 decision from Bob Kramer.

Bouncing back from his freak disqualification loss at Brown, Foster defeated Yale's highly regarded Hardy Will, 9 to 6. The other top Yale men--123-pounder Andy Fitch and heavyweight Bing Sherrill--picked up wins, although Sherrill had a hard battle before beating the varsity's Ted Robbins on a 9-7 decision.

The other matches went to Yale, as the Crimson's Nick Estabrook, King Holmes and Rick Sullivan met defeat. Estabrook lost to Tim Welles in a close 4-3 match, while Holmes was pinned by Alec Slaughter in 4:35. Sullivan, returning to action after a knee injury, was defeated, 6 to 2.

In a match preceding the varsity affair, the Yale Freshman defeated the Yardlings by a 20-11 count. George Doub at 130, Bill Smith at 137 and Tom Owsley at 147 picked up decision victories, while Lee Freeman at 167 wrestled a draw.
